Who should apply?
We are looking for a committed Christian who is able to lead people in the outdoors. We are seeking an Outdoor Instructor who can deliver a safe, exciting and meaningful adventure programme in line with our mission. You will have worked in the outdoor adventure sector and will be passionate about the connection between outdoor learning and the journey of the Christian faith.
Key roles
- Participate in the outdoor activity programme by instructing as directed
- Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are adhered to
- Assist with the maintenance of the outdoor education equipment
- Ensure that evidence of current experience and competence in outdoor activities is recorded in an up-to-date logbook
- Take part in training as required, ensuring that the appropriate standards are upheld
- Communicate with the Chief Instructor or OD as and when problems arise
- Taking part in our Christian programme, attending team meetings and devotional times, helping host events, serving our guests and being an Ambassador for Abernethy
What experience and qualities are we looking for?
Essential Requirements
- MTUK Rock Climbing Instructor, BCAB Paddlesport Leader, MTUK Hill and Moorland Leader, BC MTB Leader Level 2, BASI Level 1, RYA Dinghy Instructor, D1 driving licence. You do not need to have all of these, but a combination of several will be expected.
Desirable
- Have served previously with a Christian organisation, charity or church
- Full UK driving licence
Good to know
- It is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the holder of this post is a practising Christian whose lifestyle is consistent with the values and doctrine of the Christian faith
- As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure
